News for May 2016

16th May 2016
Parent Governor Election
Thank you to our three candidates: Naomi Sumpter, Carolyn Stokes and Jen Smith. Thank you also to everyone who cast a vote. Jen Smith was elected and will join Lorna Hardwick, Dave Ronalds and Paul Beeby as a parent governor.

Communicating with School
If you ever have concerns or messages, do see teaching or office staff at the beginning or end of the school day. If you are at work give us a ring.

We understand that communicating by email is very convenient. We apologise for the fact that we do not currently have the capacity in the office, or during teachers’ extended days, to take on email correspondence. A simple conversation in person or on the phone can easily turn into long running email exchange. We also find that meaning can be lost in a hurried exchange with no personal contact!

Owls – Classroom Relocation
Owl’s class will be moving down to the classroom adjacent to the hall after half term. This is to allow for some maintenance and decorating in their current classroom.
PE bags and lunchboxes will be kept on a trolley outside the new class. Coats and Forest School gear can remain in the current cloakroom.

Reception and Nursery Drop Off
If you arrive early for drop off then do wait on the Key Stage One playground so that your children can play safely. The railings along the ramp and the wooden borders are not safe play equipment.

Induction and Transition
We do not focus on the idea of class changes with the children this early in the summer term. This can be very unsettling and we still have half a term to go.
In July we will have a week of class swaps and visits (see calendar overleaf). It is at this time that we will notify parents of their child’s new class. All parents are invited to our Induction and Transition Evening to see their child’s new classroom and to meet their new teacher. All parents will also be invited to school during the teaching day for a 1:1 appointment. If you are unable to attend an appointment during the school day then you are welcome to have a telephone conversation with the new teacher.

Waddesdon Educational Visit
On the last week of term the whole of Reception and KS1 will be studying a mini topic based on a visit to Waddesdon Manor. The focus of the work will be on personal and social development as well as on outdoor learning.
We do not charge for this visit. We are National Trust members which reduces the cost. The coaches are paid for by money raised by teachers who run a termly disco.

Parent Questionnaires
Thank you to everybody who has returned a questionnaire. The Governors will be meeting on our return to school to collate and analyse the results. These will then be discussed at our Full Governing Body meeting on Thursday 9th June.
