10.00 Playtime (Outside if possible)

10.30 English

  • Research facts about chicks in an information (non-fiction) book or on the internet. If using a book, work together to use the contents page and index page to search for information.

  • Write a sentence (or more) to describe a chick. E.g. The chick is soft.  The chick is fluffy. The chick is yellow. Encourage your child to remember how to spell key words like ‘the’ and to use their knowledge of letter sounds (phonics) to spell other words e.g. ch-i-ck = chick.

Support your child to remember:

  • Start the sentence with a capital letter.
  • Use finger spaces between words.
  • End the sentence with a full stop.

  • Practise writing the letters c, o, a, d, g, q, e, s, f (each letter begins the same way, with an anti clockwise movement).
